My garage door is relatively new and yet it is very loud. How can i fix the noise?

The large spring above my garage door broke. I'm handy and have numerous tools to fix stuff. How much should I expect to pay to have it repaired? Thanks in advance!

There is a lever that actually pulls open the garage door when you press your garage-door button. Then there is a short metal bar inside a hollow piece of metal on the lever, all both along the chain of the garage that runs through the garage box with the light. This short metal bar runs when the garage door button is pressed along the chain, but is now detached from the lever opening the garage door. I pull down the red handle that opens the garage if the garage actually opens partly (like maybe 6 inches open), and the garage just falls back down, but is still unopenable. Before I was unable to open the garage, I heard a loud crashing noise in the garage, but was not sure what it was.

During Christmas last year, as we were driving around to the different neighborhoods we noticed that some people had their garage doors wrapped with what looked like wrapping paper. We thought this would be a great idea but not sure how to pull it off. Is it really actual wrapping paper or is there a garage door cover (if not I'm copyrighting that, lol)? If it is wrapping paper any tips on how to put on door and keep it from tearing? If it is a cover do you know where you find it?

The garage door opened this morning w/out any problems. Later the day it didn't open anymore. I checked the fuses, because I also had problems /the dryer and washing machine. Neither the remote nor the wall remote are working, and I need the car tomorrow! Is there any way to open the door w/out using the remotes, means w/out using all the automatics? Please, I need help!

What would I use to seal the seams?

Would MDF be good and cheap soundprooding?

If building a second door instead is cheaper is there a way to make this practical to open easily?
I am willing to rebalance the door and maybe get a new spring as it pretty much needs one anyway.

How often does a garage door break or fail to function properly?
What parts need to be maintained?

I am replacing my one piece garage door with a sectional door. I would like to replace my homemade mail bag with a mailbox made for a garage door. Does anyone know of a place that sells a good inside mailbox or receptacle to collect mail from the mailslot?

I have a steel sectional, overhead garage door that will not hold a coat of paint. It peels and flakes off. How do I get the paint to stay on my door?

I have an inconsiderate roommate who likes to use the garage door instead of front door and he leaves it open for long periods of time as well. I'd like to know how much our heating bill is affected with the door open all the time (its low 40s now in my area). I also would like to know how much energy is used by opening and closing it approx. 15 times a day.
