on my garage door one of the springs broke and i cant find the same sized spring. would it matter if i replace both of them with bigger springs?

Whenever it gets damp or chilly in the mornings, the garage door won't open more than a couple of inches. I have to have someone on the outside of the door put a bit of pressure on the door and "help" it rise a couple of inches and then it is ok. It is a light weight metal door. Actually the opener did the same when it was the wooden door. Works fine when the sun warms it up. Never happens in the warm.

My manual lift (old school) wooden garage door is very difficult to keep open. It is also very heavy and quite scary, I'm afraid it will come crashing down and, at the very least, give one of us a concussion. How do I go about stabilizing it so that when I open it I can be confident that it won't come crashing down. It is the old kind of garage door with those big scary springs on either side.
