Is the motor just fried or are there some other parts of the system to check out? Wheels are all on tracks and springs and cables are loaded properly....also when I pull emergency release the door opens OK. What else to look at? Thanks, Dave

The cable on this garage door came off the drum and when the home owner pressed the remote control the door went up cock-eyed....the rollers came out of the track and the only thing holding the door from collapse was the j-arm to the garage door opener. These people did the right thing.....they left the door alone and called for help. I've seen homeowners damage the door sections by trying to get the door down themselves. As bad as this may look there was no damage to the garage door.....the only parts I replaced where the rollers which where cracked - although they probably where not cracked from this incident.... this is usually a fairly quick and inexpensive repair. Some times the horizontal track gets bent but usually this can be straightened out without having to replace the track.......Most of the time when I reset a door like this one the customer will be like "Its never run this quiet" ....probably because there was an underlying condition to the door that caused the malfunction in the first place....and that gets fixed when we reset the garage door properly.

I want to install a garage door opener, but in the garage the main beam is in the way. It is a high ranch with a 2 car garage and the beam crosses through the middle of the garage parallel to the garage doors (supported by a pole in the middle of the garage between the cars. To install a ceiling mount garage door opener, I would have to cut a large hole or notch in the beam for the rail to pass through.

Is that OK? What are the alternatives?

I have checked the pressure for opening and closing. All cables and moving parts are lubricated. Both sensors are working properly and lenses are clean. The door sometimes goes down fine and other times about 6'' or half way then back up. It also happens during cloudy days and at nights, so I know its not sun related. What's the next step? Its a Genie Pro with screw drive and only about 5yrs old.

There is a lever that actually pulls and open the garage door when you press your garage-door button. Then there is a short metal bar along the chain (long) from the motor (box) and the garage door which grips the metal bar so it opens and closes the garage. This short metal bar runs when the garage door button is pressed along the chain, but it is not gripping as it should hence, the door is not opening and closing. Anyone has solution how to fix this ? I would appreciate the correct suggestion. Thank you.
