How do you insulate a garage door?
I have an uninsulated garage door and was wondering if there is anyway to insulate it. As in taping insulation to it? It isn't one that can come apart. If I can't insulate it, any other ideas would be great!

I have a sears best life 1/2 hp garage door opener and a remote that does not seem to match. The outside of the unit does not seem to show any pins or settings and I am afraid to open the unit by removing the 6-8 screws (also the unit does not seem to be super secure in the ceiling). Is there another way to reprogram the remote to this old unit?
I have disconnected the door from the opener and the door opens and closes without a problem. However, when I connect to the opener, it only goes up and won't come back down. I have tried unplugging and plugging back in to see if it resets. It still doesn't go down. I have changed the settings on the down and up force and also made sure the down limit is set low enough, but still nothing. Is there a switch on the motor that determines which direction to turn the chain? Is this a repairable part?
We have an Action Garage door and the operating manual says to have it serviced professionally yearly, but I was hoping we could save some money and do it ourselves. It is suppose to be a relatively quiet garage door but it has been sounding pretty squeaky lately. Can anyone help?
After oiling and cleaning the track out, our garage door still goes back up automatically. How do we find out what is wrong with it, without spending an arm and a leg or what is a common fixer we can try?
After I posted, the chain came off the gear and we found the gear is broken. Called a repair person! Thank you for your comments!
Is there any pictures someone can send me to tell me what to check for. It goes up and down only about 2 inches while it's hooked up electricly. Once I unhook it from the eletric part the door won't even 2inches. It won't move. What should I do.. Help!
What company can I trust to do a good job and give me a good price. And what is a good garage door opener to install.
They would have to be in the chicago erea.
My garage door is relatively new and yet it is very loud. How can i fix the noise?

I want to replace my garage door opener unit but I want to make sure that I buy a new unit with the appropriate amount of power to be able to lift a garage door my size. It's a double door, wooden and seems bloody heavy. The old unit doesn't work anymore because one of the parts that drives the chain that lifts the door is completely worn out. I assume this is because the unit is old but I can't help but wonder if it expired early because it was lifting a door that was too heavy. Can I just shove the bathroom scales under the garage door to weigh it? It couldn't weigh more than a couple of hundred pounds right?
